As a Primrose Hill Farm wedding photographer and recommended supplier, it’s a venue I absolutely love returning to. Set on the edge of the Cotswolds countryside, Primrose Hill Farm combines modern luxury with relaxed rural charm. Its bright, contemporary interiors, rustic surroundings and panoramic countryside views create the perfect backdrop for stylish, laid-back weddings that feel both personal and full of atmosphere.
Here, I share a little insight into weddings at Primrose Hill Farm, alongside inspiration from some beautiful real weddings I’ve recently photographed here.

Primrose Hill Farm in the Cotswolds Countryside

Set on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border, Primrose Hill Farm blends contemporary architecture with open landscapes and thoughtfully designed spaces that feel elegant without being overly formal. And, as a wedding photographer, the venue has so much to shout about when it comes to beautiful wedding photos.

The inside spaces are flooded with natural light, from the glass-fronted bridal prep space to the perfectly lit ceremony room and (one of my personal favourites) the stunning glass-fronted dining room, overlooking the countryside views. It’s rare for a rustic wedding venue to have such consistently well lit interiors, allowing for bright, crisp photos throughout every part of your wedding day. Outdoors, you have access to beautiful countryside surroundings, including a secluded pond area with a winding pathway through soft wild grasses - perfect for couple portraits away from guests. The panoramic countryside views beyond also create the most beautiful backdrop for outdoor ceremonies, drinks receptions and golden light cocktail hours too.

TThe Orchard Barn preparation space provides a beautiful setting for getting ready, complete with champagne, sweet treats, a dress hanging room, spacious preparation area and extended lounge and kitchen space. The interiors are bright and airy, allowing for beautifully crisp photography of candid moments, bridal portraits and all the final touches throughout the morning, with access to lovely outdoor space too.

From a photography perspective, having a private preparation space on site allows me to photograph both sides of the morning seamlessly - one party making use of the Orchard Barn, while the other can relax elsewhere within the venue and grounds. It means I’m able to document beautiful moments from both of your mornings, while also staying close by to capture guest arrivals and those final ceremony set-up details too.

This really adds to the storytelling aspect of my galleries - being able to document the full story, from quiet moments and final touches to laughter, nerves and anticipation for you both.

Wedding Preparations at Primrose Hill Farm

Primrose Hill Farm offers a stunning setting for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. While I’ve photographed several weddings at Primrose Hill Farm, I’m yet to photograph an outdoor ceremony here - but I’m really hoping I get the opportunity to in the future! I always love the relaxed atmosphere outdoor ceremonies create, and the panoramic countryside views at Primrose Hill Farm provide such a special backdrop for them.

Inside, the barn offers a modern yet characterful ceremony space, with high ceilings, warm textures and beautiful natural light falling directly onto the couple at the front of the room. With the beautiful trees already framing the ceremony space, it never needs excessive styling, though it’s always lovely to see added florals and personal details incorporated too.

CHURCHES
For couples planning a church ceremony before celebrating at Primrose Hill Farm, there are several beautiful countryside churches within easy reach of the venue. Below features the beautiful honey coloured St John the Baptist Church in Hornton - just a 12 minute drive from Primrose Hill Farm

CONFETTI
After your ceremony, we line guests up outside the front entrance for confetti - always one of my favourite parts of the day! Being a farm venue, Primrose Hill Farm requests natural petal confetti, which can look incredibly beautiful in photos. I always recommend choosing medium to larger sized petals, with lighter colours showing up especially well against the dark wood of the barn.

Drinks receptions at Primrose Hill Farm flow naturally between the indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing guests to fully enjoy the countryside setting. In warmer months, guests can spill out onto the terrace, making use of the outdoor bar while taking in the beautiful countryside views.

I always recommend allowing plenty of time for your drinks reception - ideally at least two hours. At this point in the day, you often haven’t had the chance to properly speak to many of your guests yet, so it’s the perfect opportunity to relax, mingle and enjoy drinks and canapés together. It also gives us enough time to fit in any group photos you’d like, alongside sneaking away for a few quiet moments together for couple portraits.

I never want your photography to take over your wedding day, and it’s really important to me that you have plenty of time to simply enjoy it all. This part of the day is often when I capture so many of the beautiful natural, candid moments too..

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Primrose Hill Farm is the variety of backdrops available for portraits. From open countryside views and soft rolling fields to the modern architecture of the venue itself, the setting offers so much variety without needing to travel anywhere additional on the wedding day. If you’re lucky enough to catch golden hour, the sun falls perfectly across the fields, creating the most stunning backdrop!

While this is one of my favourite parts of the day, I keep couples photos short and sweet to ensure you have plenty of time with family and friends. My style encourages genuine interactions through gentle movement and subtle direction, rather than staging formal posed photos. My focus is on capturing relaxed, natural images that reflect genuine emotion and connection.

the dining barn & wedding breakfast

Wedding breakfasts at Primrose Hill Farm feel stylish yet relaxed, with the barn providing a beautiful blank canvas for whatever you envision. Whether you’re planning elegant long tables filled with florals and candlelight or something more minimal like the Herringbone layout, the space adapts beautifully.

It’s such a beautiful room that I always like to give couples the option of having a few photos inside before guests begin taking their seats. After months of planning, it can be so lovely to have all of your beautifully thought out details surrounding you before the celebrations begin.

Whatever you choose, soak in the atmosphere and make a real entrance when you join your guests for your wedding breakfast. These are always some of my favourite photos - particularly at Primrose Hill Farm, where the natural light allows for such beautifully crisp images. Get your guests on their feet, choose your favourite upbeat song and enjoy every second of the moment.

the evening & party

As the evening begins, Primrose Hill Farm transitions effortlessly from relaxed countryside wedding venue to vibrant party space. The barn comes alive with music and lots of dancing, while guests can continue enjoying the outdoor spaces during the warmer months. The venue photographs beautifully at night, with fun pink lighting and the dancefloor sitting right beside the bar - meaning it’s always busy and so much fun to photograph.
