A Marquee Wedding on a Private Family Farm in Lincolnshire

07.09.2024

Alice and Dan’s wedding was set in the heart of rural Lincolnshire, beginning with a traditional church ceremony before returning to Alice’s family farm for a marquee celebration. It was a day that balanced beautiful styling with the familiarity of home – editorial in feel, but grounded in family and a rural countryside setting.

bridal preparations AT home

Preparations took place at Alice’s parents’ home on their family farm, overlooking the marquee and drinks reception space as suppliers began setting up for the day ahead. The atmosphere felt calm but full of excitement with lots of laughter, alongside beautiful first looks and family moments. Family life carried on around the preparations too, with Flo the Dalmatian and Muppet the spaniel weaving in and out of photographs.

Alice looked stunning in a bespoke gown paired with a family heirloom veil, finished with long satin gloves that added a subtle sense of drama to her look. Bridesmaids matched in soft pink tones, adding a beautiful contrast to the rural surroundings. The groomsmen while the groomsmen wore classic black tie, with Dan distinguished in a white dinner jacket.

Wedding Ceremony at Frampton Parish Church, lincolshire

The ceremony took place at Frampton St Mary the Virgin Church, just a short drive from the farm.  A light spell of rain only added to the rural Lincolnshire setting and atmosphere as Alice, her father and the bridesmaids arrived.

Inside, the church is wonderfully light and open, centred around a statement chandelier suspended above the aisle. The church photographed beautifully – I focused on capturing wide, atmospheric photographs that really showed the scale of the space, balanced with quieter moments, reactions and details. Alice entered with her blusher veil covering her face – a tradition I personally always love, adding a sense of anticipation to the aisle moment.

After the ceremony, guests were greeted outside by a tractor and trailer ready to transport the wedding party back to the house – a lovely detail that felt entirely true to the location and the couple. Alice and Dan led the way in a vintage car, with guests gathered round as they cheered off the newlyweds.

Drinks Reception and wedding party portraits

Back at the farm, the drinks reception unfolded across the grounds, with time carved out for greetings, drinks, canapes and photos.

For couples portraits, the gardens, lane and tennis courts created the perfect backdrop. Alice and Dan were also keen for movement led portraits – running shots with bridesmaids and groomsmen that felt fun, unposed and completely reflective of the energy of the day. They really were so much fun to photograph and Alice & Dan’s connection translated effortlessly on camera.

Marquee Wedding Reception on the Family Farm

The wedding breakfast took place in a marquee set within the grounds of the family farm. Beautiful styling carried a subtle Italian influence – a nod to the Amalfi Coast, where Alice and Dan got engaged.

Their entrance into the marquee set the tone immediately with napkins in the air, guests cheering and the whole space lifting with energy. There’s always something particularly special about this moment in a marquee setting. Speeches then followed – definitely some of the most heartfelt moments of the day. Warm, personal and a beautiful reflection of the closeness between both families.

The Evening & Marquee Party!

As the evening celebrations began, the marquee shifted naturally into party mode. Their first dance was marked with confetti cannons – an instant lift in energy and the perfect way to open the dance floor. I can’t not mention their incredible band @jonnyrossmusic too – so interactive and involved with the guests, you can tell from the photos how much fun they were having!
